With our OH weather going crazy over the past couple of weeks, we were fortunate to have a day with 60F weather and sunny skies, so we planned a little outing. We surprised our parents with an impromptu, yet perfect, trip to Shaker Tract Tree Farm in Harrison, OH to pick out a Christmas tree. Believe it or not, this was our FIRST ever experience cutting down our own Christmas tree and it was an absolute blast. We chose a beautiful, 10 foot, Canaan Fir... it only took my sisters and I about 30 minutes of sawing to bring this beauty home (clearly we weren't being very efficient).
Bill Hammitt and his crew were wonderful to work with. Teaching at Clemson University for the School of Agricultural, Forest and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Hammitt provided valuable knowledge to us regarding the local landscape and the quality of the Canaan Firs on his property. This was truly an experience we will never forget; we can't wait to visit again next year! Thank you, Shaker Tract Tree Farm!
